Building a Shelter Together

Building a Shelter Together

hands

The third grade curriculum is focused on learning about the three essential, practical requirements for all humankind — how we work with nature to provide ourselves with food, clothing, and shelter. Currently studying shelters, students in Ms. Dilda’s class got their hands dirty preparing to construct a straw bale structure last Friday. They cleared and leveled the area, hauled sand, mixed different kinds of gravel and clay together to make the floor, poured the floor, and evened it out. This week, the straw bales will go up and get mudded! – Thank you to Jesi for the photo!
