4th Annual Jazz and Friends VIRTUAL Storytime

4th Annual Jazz and Friends VIRTUAL Storytime

We are excited to present our 4th Annual Jazz & Friends Storytime as part of the Human Rights Campaign’s national community reading event. Our goal is to offer learning and conversation opportunities to our families and staff in order to nurture an inclusive and affirming community. And as we shift from Black History Month to Women’s History Month, we’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge that our learning and celebrations shouldn’t be confined to a particular ‘month’, that we all have multiple identities, that our diversity is our strength, and that Mountain Phoenix is a place where we all belong.

To honor this day of reading and celebration, we have created a video presentation that features MPCS staff reading stories with themes of self-expression, respect, self-love, gender identity, intersectionality, and allyship.

This year, we are featuring the wonderful books:

  • I Am Jazz
  • Peanut Goes for the Gold
  • Neither
  • Call me Tree / Llámame Árbol’
  • Intersection Allies

Not only will you get to enjoy these stories, but Ms. Kacel will be sharing conversation starters with your family and friends around the concepts of being kind and celebrating our unique selves.

Please enjoy this video with your family and friends as we all move forward in connecting with each other in brave conversations and celebrating the beautiful diversity within our MPCS community. The video also has a closed captioning option to increase accessibility as needed.

A special note: If you’d like to have a copy of any of the books featured, you can find them at your local library or at Second Star to the Right.
